What educators are saying

This resource is perfect. We are planning to put on a circus in the spring and this will really help us.

Description

I have been performing a circus with my students for many years. My experience with this script has been with kindergarten only, but it can easily be adapted to preschool to second grade. We practice our circus during school hours. Because of that, our circus takes about a month to prepare. The circus performance itself takes 30 - 45 minutes to perform if all roles/acts are included. The script is easily adapted to removing performers and acts if time is a factor for you. It is also a fun backyard or camp activity to do in the summer.

The circus is a part of American history. In olden days, the circus would travel throughout the country from small town to small town providing entertainment that would amaze and thrill its audience. Nowadays, a circus is a rare event in the United States. Our children are familiar with carnivals and amusement parks, but not so much a full fledged circus. Despite this fact, children delight in pretending to be a circus performer. The bright colors and cheerful music bring much joy to a child! To give students a simple overview of the circus, I have included teacher read-aloud pages that can be printed, laminated, and bound into a book OR imported upon an interactive whiteboard. Student coloring pages can be used to reinforce the teacher read aloud.
