Description

Engage your students with this 20-question circuit on domain and range! Once you and your students try a circuit, you will be hooked! This circuit involves piecewise, composite, rational, quadratic, square root, cube root, trig, exponential and log functions. It seems simple (in each case students are given a function and then asked for the domain OR the range). But, all of the answers are very similar AND in interval notation so the students really have to understand the behavior(s) of various families of functions.

My intention is to have advanced students work this without a calculator or a computer, but they might need one on a few of them (the teacher might need a calculator on a few of them as you work it before your students do!).

It takes a village to write a tight (error-free) circuit, and this one is no exception. I would like to thank my fabulous AP Calculus students Sam Meals and Bradley Winters who edited the final drafts for me!

I do not include answers with my circuits because the answers are embedded in the circuit (it is how the students advance from one question to the next). But, if you ever get stuck, or think you have found a mistake, please do not hesitate to email me at virginia.cornelius@gocommodores.org.
