Description

In this Pixel Art Activity, students will solve problems related to lengths formed by chords, secants and tangents in circles. In each of 9 problems, students will apply theorems to solve problems involving segment lengths in circle diagrams. If they solve the problem correctly, pixels will appear, letting students know their answer is correct. If pixels don't appear, students will check their work, revise their answer and try again.

My students enjoy pixel art activities. They are engaged during the activity because they want to see the colorful "mystery image". Because of the self-checking nature of the task, students are more inclined to correct misconceptions and persevere to finish the activity. For the teacher, it is very convenient to assess, by just checking the image is complete!

It is recommended that students view the activity at 75% zoom setting. This will allow them to see the given diagrams and see the mystery image as it is revealed. This product is a google sheet, and therefore syncs well with google classroom or another learning management system. The activity can be seen in 'stages' in the Preview.

The key is on the second sheet, and will need to be deleted before assigning to students.
