Description
Christmas Writing, Christmas Creative Writing, Elf Application
HO HO HO! 'Tis the season Santa needs extra ELVES on staff!
Help Wanted at the North Pole! is a festive writing project, encouraging students to exercise their creativity and practice the "art" of writing a letter of interest.
Students will begin by listening to How Santa Got His Job by Stephen Krensky (not included) and completing a corresponding graphic organizer. Next, students will receive a Help Wanted at the North Pole! advertisement from Santa, and decide which North Pole department they would like to be employed in if they were to be hired as an elf! They will go through the entire writing process as they "apply" for a job at the North Pole, practicing a real-life skill. They will pre-write (brainstorm), listen to mini-lessons/ draft a letter of interest, revise and edit, and then publish their work. To finalize their project, students will create a North Pole Elf from their letter of interest and the provided stencil templates.
