Description

Christmas songs and poems for Literacy activities can be fun when children sing or chant these Christmas themed songs, poems and fingerplays. Sing the songs, write in centers, read the lyrics in shared reading, send the song booklet home for students to sing and read to parents, perform these songs for a holiday program.

Fingerplays are GREAT for virtual teaching and for strengthening fine motor muscles.

Singing Action songs provide opportunities for children to move as they learn.

Children are using their hands and words together. Whether sung or chanted- the rhythming poems can help your students make great strides in their literacy skills during December.

RESOURCE INCLUDES:

  • 22 Songs, Poems and Fingerplays.
  • All Songs sung to familiar tunes.  If you don’t know the song, then you can easily use these as a chant or a poem.  Rhyming activities are wonderful literacy boosters!
  • Teaching presentation and Mini-cards.
  • SONGS- COLOR AND BLACK AND WHITE -so students can color and create a songbook
  • WRITING ACTIVITIES- FIRST GRADE AND KINDER WRITING LINES
  • PUPPETS- COLOR AND BLACK AND WHITE- teacher can use the color puppets, students can color the black and white versions.

HOMESCHOOL TEACHING IDEAS:

Homeschoolers and Preschool teachers will love this resource because the activities can be done by one child, or can be used with small groups. Even preschoolers will love to choose the activity cards and put them in order on the floor or table-then move to the cards. Perfect for a small group setting.

Choose the songs and music that work well for your group. Have your children perform the songs in a fun holiday program or for family and friends.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:

  • Preschool, Homeschool, Elementary aged children love to sing these Holiday themed songs, sing or chant the songs,  color the pages along with writing activities. Use in your stations, morning gathering time, or upload to your virtual classroom for students to download and work on independently. 

PRESCHOOL: Children will love learning the songs and hand actions and coloring the pictures to present to families in a cute holiday program. 

KINDER: some may be able to read without any help. Most will need help.

FIRST-SECOND-THIRD: should be able to read the songs/poems/chants without any help.

MUSIC CLASSES: Print the songs and have small groups of students sing, play and perform the songs.  Easy to add some xylophone, shaker or drum parts the children can create on their own. (sheet music is NOT included)
