Is Santa Getting A New Wardrobe?
The Colours of Christmas is the story of Santa's "rebranding". The head elf hires an image consultant to give Santa a makeover, but this proves to be more difficult than it might seem! The image consultant and his/her assistants come up with a number of new outfits in different colours for Santa to try. (Accompanied by a Christmas song featuring that colour). In the end, it's the elves who save the day by coming to the realization that maybe Santa didn't need that much updating after all.

The show is approximately 30 - 45 minutes in length.
This script does a wonderful job of showcasing a few students who have genuine acting ability and comic timing (namely Santa and the Image Consultant) while also providing smaller, manageable parts for other students.

It's really hard to find high quality scripts for children that are both appropriate for the performers and entertaining for the audience. As both a teacher and an experienced musical theatre performer, I was disappointed by what was available... so I started writing my own! These scripts are based around genuine characters that encourage good acting skills from the students, and songs that are woven meaningfully right into the story with natural dialogue. (Instead of announcing, "now the kindergarten class will sing..." the songs are used as part of the story, as they would in a Broadway musical.)
The goal of these concert scripts I have written is to allow groups of students (classes, choirs, etc) to perform individual musical numbers while having an actual story to connect the performances together. This makes the resulting show easier to rehearse, but avoids the “rotating stage” style of concert. We know that the parents come to see their kids, but there’s no reason we can’t entertain them at the same time!
Musical Numbers
Nearly all of the songs used in this script have commonly available sheet music and karaoke backing tracks, making this script useable by anyone even if you don’t have someone who plays the piano. Original versions as well as background tracks for nearly all of these songs are available from iTunes.
