What educators are saying

Thank you for taking the time to make this resource to share with fellow teachers, it is very appreciated!
This worked really well in my career and life class. My students were engaged and interested in the project. I am planning on using it again this coming year.

Description

This is a Christmas-themed personal finance project useful for students in a business class or any other subject area where simple math skills or real-life budgeting examples are needed. Students will learn how to manage and plan their finances, establish and follow a budget, as well as gain personal financial management skills. You can find a non-holiday version of a monthly budget project HERE.

This project provides students with some insight into the costs associated with the Christmas season while learning how to manage their money appropriately. A teacher instruction page has been included to help you organize how you might like to present the information to your students.

What's included?
• Detailed teacher instruction page
• Pre-project estimations
• Christmas budget brainstorm
• Christmas budget plan
• Christmas budget spreadsheet
• Writing prompts to guide each section
• Optional activities
• Extension activity ideas
• Editable templates
• Editable rubric
• Sample project included

This lesson set reinforces practical money skills and teaches the budgeting process in a fun and engaging way. Students will learn the differences between "need" and "want" items, including the importance of volunteering their time and giving back to their local community.

The activities can easily be differentiated to suit the various learners in your classroom. They can be completed: independently, with a partner, in small groups or even as a whole-class activity. There is a lot of flexibility in regards to the length of the project and the different types of activities that can be completed with a class.
