HOW TO USE THE CHRISTMAS MATH STRIPS

Students fill in the math strip, color the Christmas friend if they are using the black and white version and cut it out. These can then be used to create a Christmas math display.

The colored versions can be laminated and used again and again with students using whiteboard markers to complete the activity.

The variety of activities easily allows for differentiation as students can be given activities that are most appropriate for their abilities.

Ways to Make a Number Adding 2 or 3 Numbers

• For the place value strips students complete the math strip they are given for place value with 2, 3, 4 or 5 digit numbers.

• For the addition, subtraction, multiplication and division strips, students answer the facts.

• On the I Can Count strips the teacher suggests how the student is to count. These can be used for counting in 1's, 2's, 5's or even decimal numbers.

• On the Ways to Make a Number strips, the teacher suggest the number they are to add to. This can be simple like adding to 10 or much more complex like adding to 250.

Once the Christmas math strip is completed, children color the Christmas friend, if they are using a black and white version and then cut out the strip.

These can then be used to create a colorful Christmas math display!

These Christmas math strips are quick and easy to prepare - just print and they are ready to hand out.

These activities are suggested for first grade, second grade, third grade and fourth grade but they may be suitable for other grades also. Please see the preview to determine if these are suitable for your students.
