Christmas Decodables Bundle | SoR Early, Middle, and Advanced Phonics Stories

These 24 Decodable Stories practice a variety of syllable types and phonetic patterns in a fun and festive way. The passages range from simple cvc phonics patterns to more advanced vowel dipthongs and affixes. My reading intervention students love reinforcing their learning with these stories and others like them!

The Christmas decodables set was written for students in grades one, two, three, four, and five, and any older student studying these skills and patterns would relate to the characters and plot lines in these stories! They are purposely not age specific in an effort to fill the very real need for appropriate decodable text for our older struggling readers.

Phonics Patterns Included in these Sets:

cvc, cvce, fls spelling rule, ccvc, cvcc, glued sounds, closed syllable exceptions, cvc/cvc, long a and long e vowel teams, consonant blends, digraphs, open syllables, r-controlled vowels, vowel teams, vowel dipthongs, igh & eigh, soft c & soft g, -cle syllables, prefixes, and suffixes.

In addition to their Science of Reading aligned, phonetic benefit, reading these stories repeatedly is also an excellent way to practice fluency. In addition, as a comprehension check, each story asks the student to illustrate the story. This also provides a formative assessment tool for teachers.
