Description
Students will learn about Christmas traditions from around the world by getting out of their seats and going on a scavenger hunt. Scatter the 30 statements around your room and then have your students use QR Code Readers to find out which tradition belongs to which country. Students fill out a handout with the answers and complete a graphic organizer. Do you have remote learners? A digital version is also included (read below for more details)!
No devices in your classroom? No problem! A version without QR codes is included as well!
Note: The QR codes were designed for students to use a QR code reader app to reveal the country's name. If students do not have a QR code reader app, they may use the camera on their device. However, the camera reads the QR code differently. It assumes they want an Internet search for the country (there is no way to control what sites the device pulls into the search). So, if students want to use their camera, they will need to first put their device in airplane mode or turn off the WiFi connection.

DIGITAL VERSION:
The digital version is slightly different since students are not in a classroom and aren't able to walk around to find the clues. Instead, teachers can share a PowerPoint or Google Slides version with their students during a video meeting. Or, teachers can direct students to an online version that they will go through on their own.

*PowerPoint and Google Slides presentation (30 Slides each with one clue; country name is animated to come up when in slide show or present mode; uneditable)
*Student Portal to online version: students click the portal and are taken to the online version which works with all computers and browsers (if your school blocks unknown sites, you may need to have them unblock the site) (PowerPoint, PDF, and Google Slides versions are included; 1 page; uneditable)
*Fillable PDF and Google Slides version of student handout (3 pages; students type into text boxes; not editable in Adobe Pro or Slides)
*Fillable PDF and Google Slides version of graphic organizer (1 page; students type into text boxes; not editable in Adobe Pro or Slides)

This download contains files that may be printed and copied or used digitally. Use whichever version fit best with your class. The other version remain yours in case you ever need to use them (in case your school makes the jump to 1:1 classes sometime in the future or if you have a student whose IEP requires a hard copy of assignments instead of digital ones).
You may put the materials in this file on a LMS for STUDENT USE that RESTRICTS access like Google Drive, Google Classroom, OneDrive, Edmodo, Blackboard, etc. where students are either invited via an email address or log in with a user name and password. Use on Outschool or similar platforms is not permitted. IT MAY NOT BE UPLOADED TO A CLASS WEBSITE UNLESS THE SITE IS RESTRICTED TO STUDENTS WITH A LOGIN AND PASSWORD AND IT MAY NOT BE USED IN A COURSE ON OUTSCHOOL OR ANY SIMILAR PLATFORMS/MARKETPLACES.
