Description

For our Easter special at the school I taught at last year, my kids wanted to put on an play with animal characters. I created this play, "What The Animals Thought" to share the story of Jesus' death and resurrection through the perspective of livestock.

There are 7 characters, but more animals could be added to suit a larger class. The characters and their roles are as follows:

Adina - a farm girl who is bored with everyday life until the animals share what happened a few years ago in her hometown.

Donkey - the donkey shares his experience as he gave Jesus a ride into Jerusalem for Passover.

Rooster and Hen - the chickens, who were pecking at fallen breadcrumbs, tell us about the last supper and Peter's denial of Jesus.

Lamb - the lamb gives an eyewitness report of the crucifixion and shares its purpose.

Bull and Cow - the cattle report on Jesus' resurrection.

The play ends with the song "There is a Redeemer" by Keith Green. All participants sing.

Allow 15 minutes or so the first week of practice. I anticipated that the play would last about 10 minutes when performed. When my class carried the play out on stage, it took about 8 minutes.
