Chinese Philosophies Ancient China Confuscianism Daoism Activities
- PDF
Description
The philosophies of Confucianism and Daoism may be ancient, but they are not at all dry and dusty! This set of two activities on the great philosophies of ancient China will have students understanding where Confucianism and Daoism began, what they teach, and how they're connected to each other. But the activities go beyond understanding. Your students will distinguish them from each other and identify how followers of each would perceive the world.
We call them the "Great Philosophies of China," and the way students learn about them should be great as well!
They'll work in small groups, with partners, and independently, so everyone gets a chance to work in their preferred way.
Original articles about Confucius, Confucianism, and Daoism begin the lesson. Students will then do a task card sort, categorizing statements as Confucianism or Daoism.
Then, they'll write a diary entry of someone following the principles of Confucianism or Daoism and trade with another student and guess which philosophy is being followed.
