Description

This Chinese New Year Math packet includes activities that utilize a wide range of math skills, and is perfect for students ages preK through first grade. These activities incorporate authentic Chinese New Year objects and symbols, introducing students to China and East Asia's most important festival.

Included in this packet:

Chinese New Year Word Problems ~ Students will solve the word problems related to Chinese New Year (addition and subtraction within 20).

Chinese New Year Scramble ~ Students will look for and count different symbols of Chinese New Year and write the quantities in the boxes. They can also color the pictures.

Graphing Chinese New Year Symbols ~ Using the Chinese New Year Symbols page, students will graph the quantities in a simple bar graph and answer the questions.

Comparing Chinese Lanterns ~ Students will compare the numbers in the lanterns, and determine which number is larger. In the box, they will write < > or =.

Color the Lion Dancer with Math ~ Students will solve addition and subtraction problems within 0-5, and then will color sections of a lion dancer drawing based on the color-coded key.

Connect the Dots! ~ Connect the dots in order, starting at number 68 and going up to number 122.

Lantern Maze ~ Students make their way through the Chinese Lantern Maze!
