What educators are saying

This was a perfect lesson with my sub! I added a few more slides such as describing their composition, bio, and title.

Description

Hello fellow teachers!

This lesson is a Google Slide presentation on Chinese New Years. Students will explore Chinese traditions and culture and then experiment with the pentatonic scale on Chrome Music Lab. This scale is common in traditional Chinese folk music.

Slides are easily altered and easy to use with Google Classroom! I used this with my own students: Grades 1 - 6 and then let students share their compositions with the class.

Lesson Targets

Compare and contrast students' own New Year traditions with Chinese New Year traditions

Compose a song using the pentatonic scale
