What educators are saying

This resource was amazing! The visual pictures included in the margins help all learning abilities in my class. I highly recommend this product.
The text is accurate (I am from Japan) and well presented. It covers everything I wanted my granddaughter to learn - perfect amount of information. She enjoyed this reading comprehension activity and learned from it. Thank you.

Description

Children's Day is May5! This set of activities will teach your students all they need to know about this traditional Japanese holiday that celebrates children for their strength and persistence.

This product includes two pages of reading text (print them double-sided to save paper!), and two pages of reading comprehension activities. The first asks students a series of questions related to the text, and includes vocabulary terms such as koinobori, mochi, kabuto, and more. . The second asks students to explain the symbolism of koi fish, and then they may color a beautiful illustration of a koi. This makes a beautiful classroom display!

For more activities related to Children's Day in Japan, I recommend the following products:

-This 3D koinobori craft

-These koinobori coloring pages

For younger students, you may like this set of Google Slides explaining Children's Day.

For older students interested in Japanese culture, you might also enjoy this reading text about kokeshi dolls.
