Description
Looking for the practice of the mole calculations beyond a worksheet? These no-prep mole calculations practice stations offer chemistry students the chance to work collaboratively, at their own pace, and with your guidance nearby. Student self-monitor their work by checking set-ups and answers before moving onto new practice.
Topics range from:
- Solving for molar mass
- Converting between molecules/compounds, moles, and mass
- Utilizing molar mass and Avogadro's number in conversions
Tips for Learning Stations:
- Print at least 4 copies of each station to place around your room. I usually print 6 copies of stations that require more work, for example, station 3 & 5 in this set. Print the answer key on the back of each station front.
- Students may begin at any station, they are not sequential. Students bring their own notebook paper, calculator & periodic table [ stickers work great here! ] and visit stations, working through problems together, numbering which station they are working on.
- Students are instructed to check their work at a station before proceeding to another. If they miss a part of the set-up of the problem, encourage them to work backward from the key, but if they still can't figure it out, they should ask for help. I usually position myself in the classroom close to the multi-step problems.
