Description

Anything with Charlie Brown is an excellent resource for the foreign language classroom! I designed these activities with high school Spanish I and II students mind, but they could also be used in upper levels as well. Because they are meant for the lower levels of Spanish, the questions and instructions are in English.

The vocabulary is divided into four groups with five words in each group: Valentine’s Vocabulary, Presents, School, and Puppet Show. After explaining the meanings of these words, the first task for students is to match a picture with 8 of the words. Then, use the same four groups of vocabulary for two matching activities and two short Cloze activities, both of which use English mixed with the Spanish vocabulary.

After the Cloze activities, show the Charlie Brown video. Then students will answer six short-answer questions (for example, Why does Charlie Brown bring a briefcase to school?) These questions are in English as well.

Charlie Brown videos come with subtitles! You can change both the language AND the subtitle language. One way to use these tools might be to do Spanish language with English subtitles for Level I, and Spanish language with Spanish subtitles for Level II. (Note: This particular video does not match up 100% Spanish language with the Spanish subtitles, but it is close most of the time.)

A special thank you to Kady Did Doodles by Kady Becker for the heart clip art on the cover!
