Description

This worksheet is designed to allow a student to investigate the characteristics of a living thing - a snail. It is based upon the acronym, MRS GREN, which is used to help remember the features of living organisms: Movement, Respiration, Sensitivity, Growth, Reproduction, Excretion and Nutrition.

I originally wrote this worksheet for Year 7 students but have used it with year 9s also. It is also good for students who are learning English.

Students normally love this activity because it is often the first time that they have gotten up close and personal with a snail.

FYI it can be difficult to find snails in winter. The best place to look for snails is in Agapantha bushes. Place them in a plastic ice cream container with some small holes in the lid and give them some lettuce or paper and perhaps a spray of water.
