Description
This fun and creative novel study project was designed to promote close reading, literary analysis and media literacy skills. It can be used for any grade from middle to high school, and can also be adjusted in its size/scale to be easily adapted to a younger grade (middle school and below). Through the character soundtracks project, students will work individually on in pairs to become the soundtrack curators for an upcoming film adaptation of their novel study book. This project asks students to use their close reading skills to make thoughtful connections and to analyse chosen characters in the text through the lens of music.

- A 7 slide introductory Google Slideshow that outlines the assignment and prompts student discussions using specific examples to get your class brainstorming!
- A 5 slide "good copy" template for student work
- An optional bonus challenge for students wherein they can use their artistic skills to support their written work.
- A 3 page student planning/drafting document (Google Doc), including a peer/self editing checklist and a brief post-assignment reflection space with accompanying prompts.
- An easy to use pre-created rubric (Google Doc) which can be edited to suit your specific assessment goals
