Description

This activity helps students to understand what "motive" means in regards to characters. It's simple, discussion based, and very easy to use.

This activity works great with both creative writing classes and drama clubs.

After a short lesson, students will have the opportunity to review fictional situations and discuss character motives with each other via nine task cards. There are no right or wrong answers. Students are encouraged to think outside of the box and get creative as they come up with possible reasonings for character's actions.

Understanding character motive will help strengthen both acting skills and writing skills. I felt this was a great lesson for both my creative writing and drama clubs. I hope your students enjoy it as much as mine did.
