    The Causes of the American Revolution Digital Interactive Notebook is intended as a resource for late-elementary into middle school ages.

    Causes of the Revolutionary War Interactive Notes

    Interactive PowerPoint Notes are a great way to engage your students in content related to your curriculum. This resource is aligned with the Causes of the Revolutionary War unit in The Teacher's Prep store but can be used independently, as well.

    When using this interactive PowerPoint, students can click on elements of the slides to reveal important information about a variety of topics related to the events that led up to the American Revolution. (See a comprehensive list of topics included below!)

    There's also a version compatible with Google Slides included! It's not interactive, due to the way Google Slides is designed, but has all the information that your students need to complete the interactive notebooks.

    The Causes of the Revolution Interactive PowerPoint is intended as a resource for late-elementary and middle school ages. It is not editable.

    The file was created using PowerPoint 2013. The animations may not play properly on older versions.

    Engage your students in learning about the causes of the Revolutionary War through the use of a layered booklet and corresponding informational text! This resource is an opportunity for your students to learn more about the actions of important American figures in the years leading up to the Revolutionary War.

    This resources covers: Crispus Attucks, Paul Revere, Benjamin Franklin, Patrick Henry, George Washington, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, Samuel Adams and Thomas Jefferson.

    The layered booklet fits easily in the pocket of a folder or binder and comes ready-made for your students to add handwritten notes. There are also five pages of informational text included. You can provide your students with supplemental reading, if you wish, or they can use the text provided to fill out their notes in the layered foldable.

    The resource includes paper pages for printing. There are two versions of the interactive booklet: one in black and white and one in color. There are five pages of informational text included.

    On each page of the foldable, students will fill out the following notes:

    Declaration of Independence Web Quest

    A Web Quest is an exciting opportunity to engage students in history! In this resource, your students will visit different websites and watch a brief video on YouTube to learn about the events leading up to the writing of the Declaration of Independence, the contents of the historical document and its significance on American history. Students will also analyze excerpts from the preamble section of the Declaration.

    What types of questions / sections are in the Web Quest?

    1. Timeline of a Revolution - Students will visit a website to learn about the the events leading up to the writing of the Declaration of Independence. They will fill out a brief timeline of events that happened in the years before the writing of the document.

    2. Growing Tensions in the Colonies - Students will visit a website to learn more about some of the major events that led up to the writing of the Declaration of Independence. They'll discover information about the actions of King George III, understand the purpose and significance of Thomas Paine's pamphlet "Common Sense", identify the five men who drafted the Declaration of Independence and more.

    3. The Declaration of Independence - Students will watch a brief video on YouTube to learn about the sections of the Declaration of Independence. They'll also analyze four excerpts and rewrite them in their own words.

    4. Check Your Knowledge - A summary activity that provides students an opportunity to check their knowledge.

    Colonizing the Moon - An American History Simulation

    In this engaging simulation, students will found a colony, write a Declaration of Independence and create a Constitution on the Moon! The simulation includes detailed instructions, small group work, a class debate, and discussion questions.

    This American History-inspired simulation will give students a new and exciting perspective on the struggles the early American colonists faced in their fight for independence.

    The simulation begins with students working in small groups to colonize the Moon. Later, they'll feel frustration as the King begins placing taxes on the Moon colonies and will write a Declaration of Independence filled with evidence of the King's wrongdoing.

    In a class debate, groups must reach compromises to form a new government...just like at the Constitutional Convention!

    They'll end with writing their own Moon Constitution and participating in a discussion about their experiences.

    You can complete this simulation in a few days or spread it out in stages over the course of your lessons on early American history.

    Causes of the American Revolution Bingo-Style Game (FREE!)

    This is a bingo review game that covers topics related to the causes of the American Revolution. It is a great tool to use before a test or to check for understanding during an instructional unit on the causes of the Revolutionary War.

    Included in this download is an instruction page for the teacher, a blank bingo board (with directions) for students, and a question/answer key for the teacher. The key offers multiple questions to enable the teacher to choose which best fits the needs of the students.
