Not only will your students learn about the events leading to the Cause of the American Revolution, but they will also practice the domain-specific vocabulary that they will encounter when they are reading about the Causes of the American Revolution.

These skits are great for students who need to practice oral fluency and they will help them use new vocabulary words. This is especially important for your EL/ELL/ESL learners.

How to use this resource:

There are many ways you can use this resource whether you are teaching in-person or online. Detailed instructions are included in the teacher guide.

  • Read them out loud after your Social Studies lesson. Teach your students about the historical event and then follow it up with the skit.
  • Have students get in a small group and read them together several times. I just let my students huddle up while standing to practice their lines. Have them think of hand gestures they can use during the performance.
  • Choose volunteers to perform or randomly select a group.
  • Read them during your small group language arts time.
  • Send them home for students to practice. The next day is "Show time"!

Time to Complete:

Skits are 1-3 pages long and take students about 5-7 minutes to perform. It takes about 30 minutes for students to read the skits, practice their lines several times in a small group, and then have a couple of groups perform.

Pick and choose what skits you would like to perform but I recommend doing only 1 skit a day after students learn about the historical event in class.

Make your Social Studies lesson come alive with these exciting and funny American Revolution skits.
