Cause and Effect for Early Learners

When talking about cause and effect, a relationship occurs between two events with one causing the other event to happen. In simple terms, one thing leads to another.

The descriptions of the twelve Cause and Effect Sets used in this resource are:

• A girl steps on a banana peel, slips, and falls.

• A boy gets dirty playing football and has to take a shower.

• A girls eats a lot of candy and gets a stomach ache.

• A boy kicks another boy and the boy cries.

• A car breaks down and needs to be towed.

• A kitten is playing with a ball of yarn and gets tangled up in the yarn.

• There is a snowman, the sun comes out, and the snowman melts.

• A lady is carrying a huge pile of books and the books fall to the floor.

• Someone left the water in the sink on and it overflowed!

• A boy is chasing butterflies, he caught one, and put it in a container.

• A boy watered a sunflower plant and it grew taller!

• There’s a basket of full of strawberries and the girl is eating one.
