What educators are saying
This was a very easy lesson for sub plans. The students were busy for the entire class period. All I really had to do was make copies. Thank you! I'd love to see more items like this for sub days!
This was a beautiful, interesting, informative resource! It definitely took my students more than one class to complete it - I would set 3 periods aside to do it. Great resource!
Description
This is a reading activity for Spanish class about Carnaval, or Latin American Carnival during the time of our "Mardi Gras." It is also a good emergency substitute activity to keep handy in your emergency substitute folder.
This packet includes three articles related to New Year's in Spain and Latin American countries. Comprehension questions follow each article. Also included is a crossword puzzle featuring some of the terms from the articles. The articles are in English, so this can easily be used at any level and you can confidently leave it with a sub. A key is included.
Countries featured in this packet are Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Venezuela, and Spain.
Also check out my other Carnaval resources:
- Carnaval Wordsearch - wordsearch that features over 40 words related to the Latin American carnivals:
- Celia Cruz - La Vida Es Un Carnaval Reading & Listening Activities - This would also be an awesome time to play La Vida es un Carnaval for your students! In this packet, students listen to the song and perform a cloze activity. There is also a reading about the song and a word search.
