Carbon Cycle Interactive Game - Clickable Google Slides
- Google Drive™ folder
Description
In this game, your students will interactively experience the carbon cycle as if they were a carbon atom moving through different transformations with this engaging Google Slide deck game.
Students will roll a die (using a free online dice rolling website) to be guided from one stop in the carbon cycle to the next. When in “presentation mode”, students will simply click the image of the die face that they roll on each Google Slide and be automatically directed to a new slide that is the next step in the carbon cycle. All slides are hyperlinked for ease of use!
The new slide will describe how their carbon atom was transformed and what stop of the carbon cycle they are now at. This includes key carbon cycle vocabulary such as photosynthesis, exchange, respiration, and more! The stations/locations included in this game are: atmosphere, soil, plant, animal, surface ocean, deep ocean, and fossil fuels. Within the game, the odds of a student moving from one place to the next are correlated with the amount of time a carbon atom typically spends in each “phase” of the real-world carbon cycle!
This product includes the interactive, clickable game as well as a student digital notebook for students to record the path that they take as a carbon atom and the transformations they experience (all hosted on Google Slides).
This ready to teach game can be played as a class, in groups, or students can play it individually. This activity is perfect for distance learning, but can also be played in person, in hybrid models, synchronously, or asynchronously.
