Capstone Project - Solving Societal Problems
- Zip
Description
This assignment aims to provide students with an opportunity to explore and analyze the benefits and consequences of utopian and dystopian societies. Students are required to choose a problem that societies face and conduct research about the chosen topic. They need to compile credible sources and construct a research paper that discusses the topic and their proposed solution.
The proposal should be 1-2 paragraphs and include the topic and solution.
Once the topic is approved, students must gather six current, fact-based sources and write a research paper that presents their findings. The research paper should include a works cited page to allow the reader to refer back to the original sources. Additionally, students are required to create an original project that demonstrates their understanding of the topic and their response to it. The suggested project presentation ideas include a TED Talk, a YouTube Vlog, a Podcast, or a poster board presentation.
Finally, students are expected to present their finalized project to the class in a 2-minute pitch that includes a description of the problem, a possible solution, up-to-date facts, relevant visuals, and formal presentation and communication skills. By the end of the project, students should be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the chosen problem and offer solutions or improvements to it.
