Description
This Made-for-Easel Activity focuses on capitalizing celestial objects. After a brief tutorial, third, fourth, and fifth grade students complete a series of interactive practice activities with thumbs-up/thumbs-down, sorting, and highlighting.
This resource instructs students to capitalize the proper names of all celestial bodies (including Earth, Moon, and Sun), as advised by NASA. This does not match AP or MLA styles. Both have nudged slightly from the old-fashioned rule that keeps Earth, Sun, and Moon in lower case. AP now states that Earth should be capitalized but not sun or moon. MLA says that they should be capitalized only when not preceded by “the.”
Note: No print materials are included. This resource is 100% digital, and each student must have a gmail account to use it.
