Description
By the time we get to October, students are usually bouncing out of their seats. The newness of the school year has worn off, and they high on Halloween goodies. Music teachers have to work extra hard in order to keep students engaged! Let's use those Halloween candy for some good with this candy rhythm activity!
So how do we keep kids interested in reading music? With this candy rhythm activity! In this file, you have everything you need to have students sort candy by rhythms, compose, dictate, and more!
This product includes sets of plates with four different rhythms on them. It includes 20 different candy pictures and names. Students take the candy cards and sort them by the rhythm that matches the name (so gum would be one syllable, so ta). They put the candy on the plates with the rhythms. Then students can compose with the candy cards, or dictate with a partner!
Everything is print and go, so there is no prep other than printing (and laminating if you want!).
Included are four sets of plates in four different rhythm levels (level 1 has quarter and eighth notes, level 4 has triplets and eighth and sixteenth notes). These are in both regular and stick notation, AND color and black and white. There are 20 different candy cards (in color and black and white). There are rhythm sorting worksheets in every rhythm level, and two composition pages.
This pairs well with Feed the Monster rhythm cards!
