This project was alot of fun. We did it right before Halloween in my 7th grade Library Skills class. The student earned candy after their presentations. Thanks for the great idea - I never would have thought of using candy as a research project idea!
This was a great, quick research paper my students did the last couple of weeks of school. They brought in a sample of their candy and students were able to visit other students and read about their candy, look at their poster and sample candy. It was a BIG hit.

Candy Research Project- Great for Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas.
This project is a great way to engage students with research. Candy is universally a favorite for our students and will get them excited to research the history of their favorite treats! At the end of the project, students could even bring in a sample of their candy for a “tasting party”.
This product includes the following for you to use in whatever way works for you and your students:
- A list of candies for students to choose from
- Candies listed on cards for random drawing
- Teacher recording sheet to track student topics
- Student instructions for report, poster, and slideshow
- Research recording sheet for students
- Rubrics for report, poster, and slideshow
- Extension project to create your own candy
