Description

This printable Valentine's Day "Candy Sort" is the perfect addition to your virtual, in-person, or homeschool classroom. This activity can be modified for a variety of grade levels and ages. Give students a box/bag of candy hearts and allow them to sort by color. The rest is up to you!

Uses

Younger students can practice counting, 1:1 correspondence, motor skills, color identification, and more! Older students may sort and graph each color, compare colors as greater than or less than, determine mean/median/mode, apply statistics, or determine fractions and percents of each color compared to the whole. It can also be used as a visual reward tool/chart for individuals or the whole class! The possibilities are endless!

This download also includes a few bonus pages with a Valentine's Day themed candy jar and extra hearts. Laminate and use as extra décor, use it to model the lesson, or use it as a file folder or center game for students. You could write letters on the hearts and use them as alphabet tiles to allow students to practice building sight words or CVC words!

ESL teachers may also love using it as a reward for their VIPKid, Palfish, DadaAbc, Zebra English, or Magic Ears learners!

This is a digital download (you will not receive a physical item) and will be available upon receipt of payment. It will print on a standard 8.5x11in sheet of paper. I recommend printing on cardstock and laminating for durability.

Your digital download will include 4 pages of candy sorting mats with a variety of colors, as shown on the cover page. It will also include a bonus page with a large candy jar and a set of candy hearts to use with it. The entire document is 10 pages.

Color

Colors may vary due to differences in screens and brightness.

Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
Understand that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger.
