Candy Corn Place Value Activities- Second Grade 2.NBT.A.3

This product includes my Place Value Candy Corn Activity & Bulletin Board Display along with a place value activity that uses candy corn to compare numbers! Both activities are aligned to the following second grade math standard:

2.NBT.A.3

Read and write numbers to 1000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.

ACTIVITY #1: This is a fun Halloween activity to display what your second graders have learned about place value! Each student is given a candy corn template with an assigned number at the top. (You can differentiate by giving them either a 2-digit or 3-digit number.) It is the student's job to write the base-ten numerals, expanded form, and word form of their number name.

ACTIVITY #2: Students will compare each side of the number sentence by using a piece of candy corn to show greater than or less than. These pages are meant to be copied front and back with a mix of what your students need. There are two pages of each type of resource. There are two pages with a mix of base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form using 3-digit numbers to match the standard 2.NBT.A.3. However, two pages are also included that practice the same skills only using 2-digit numbers for your students who are not quite ready. If your students need additional practice using 3-digit numbers in particular areas, there are two pages using only expanded form, two pages using only word form, two pages using only number names, and two pages using only base-ten numerals.
