Description
This is a differentiated flipbook project for use during a study of Canadian pioneers (settlers). Each student will create a fun and creative social studies project flip book which looks at pioneers during the history of early Canada.
These flipbooks are great as independent research, a partner project, small group work, or as a summative project at the end of a unit.
NOTE: These flipbooks (all 3 levels) are available in two versions. The first version uses the terminology Canadian Pioneers and the second uses Canadian Settlers. The content in both versions is identical.
There are three 'LEVELS' of differentiated flip book templates for three levels of learners. These are perfect for any social studies class - split classes, ELL students, and multi-level classrooms.
Each flipbook level addresses the following information about pioneers and settlers:
- Cover page
- Travel to Canada (How did settlers travel to Canada? What was the journey like?)
- The homestead (creating an aerial map including a key)
- Available Food (creating a data table of foods and how they were sourced)
- Jobs & Chores (which jobs/chores were done by different members of the household)
- School Life (What did pioneers learn in school? Interesting facts?)
Included in this package:
- Three flip book templates (in two versions 'Canadian Pioneers' and 'Canadian Settlers')
- Instructions for assembling and completing the flip book
- An assessment rubric for easy marking!
This packet also includes a DIGITAL, Google Slides, version of all three projects. This digital project can be uploaded into Google Classroom and is perfect for distance, at-home or in-class learning.
