Calming Strategies and Problem Solving Social Skills Stories and Activities

This set includes 2 social skills stories about problem solving strategies and about calming stratgies that children can use when they are mad, sad or upset and need to find a solution. The story includes simple phrases and pictures for children to learn about strategies that they can use on their own or when having problems with friends. It gives children ideas to try and phrases that they can use when trying to calm down when feeling mad.

This set also includes 3 different activities where children can review and practice problem solving and calming strategies and feelings in interactive ways. This is great to do after reading the social skills story so that children are able to practice and then call on these skills when they need them.

-Situation Cards: Children will listen to the situation on the card and are able to choose a calming strategy or a problem-solving solution that they can work. Find the visual and put it in the square.

-Game Board: Roll a die, move a marker that many spaces. If you land on a colored square, name the feeling. If you land on a white square, name the calming or problem-solving strategy.

-Dice Activity: Roll the die and practice the calming breathing technique
