Hyperdoc Info:
An ALL DIGITAL INTERACTIVE ACTIVITY to learn about the CA Mission System!
The link will force you to make a copy of the doc into your Google Drive.
The hyperdoc covers many topics such as life at the mission, its structural features, Junipero Serra, vocabulary, crops grown, etc.
It has the students explore various websites, watch videos, analyze primary sources and more to gain a full understanding from multiple perspectives about the CA Missions.
This activity also has students collaborate via padlet, flipgrid, and other platforms. Students are asked to create products like infographics, google slides presentations, and a Google My Map with pins.

Digital Breakout Info:
Increase your students' critical thinking skills and knowledge about the California Missions with this digital escape room! Check out my store for a CA Missions Hyperdoc and a choice board!
Students can work in pairs or small groups to navigate the Google Site to gather clues to break out! Students work through an ABC lock, True/False lock, number lock and more! This activity is a fun, interactive, and engaging way to review the novel and integrate technology!
Scenario: It is the year 1780 and Mission San Juan Capistrano has been destroyed! Father Serra has received a letter from some of his fellow missionaries up north giving some information about what happened. Unlock the clues left behind by solving the codes that were in the letter to help Father Serra solve the mystery and rebuild Mission San Juan Capistrano!
Directions: Use the clues provided to decipher each lock. Type your answers in the correct space on the Google Form below. Be sure to pay attention to the answer format. Click submit when you think you've answered each question correctly. A "Congratulations" message will appear if you're right! If not, go back and re-work the items you've answered incorrectly.
What is a digital breakout?
A digital breakout has students find a series of online clues to unlock "locks." Breakouts are a great way to increase student engagement in the 21st century. The 4Cs are incorporated as students must collaborate, communicate, create, and think critically!
