What educators are saying

Thank you for the thoughtful resource. Your efforts will help me create an inviting and encouraging classroom.

Description

This Calendar Math Yearlong Student Workbook is PACKED with skills you are already teach during your calendar routines. Now your students can prove what they are learning by interacting with this Calendar Math Workbook!

This workbook is intended to be printed as a monthly, quarterly/trimester, or yearlong book. I love to make my workbooks by grading period (for me this is trimesters) so I can use the workbooks as evidence at the end of the grading period. I am able to share a student's workbook with their family to show what we are working on, as well as the student's strengths and possible weaknesses.

My students and I go through our calendar routine every day, but they work out of their workbooks two - three times a week. This helps keeps things from getting too routined and bored during calendar math.

I created this workbook with 2nd graders in mind, however, it could easily be used in a 1st or 3rd grade classroom as well.

Each month's workbook page looks different. Every month starts with identifying the date, today's number, indicating even or odd, and hundreds, tens, and ones in today's number. The rest of the workbook page will differ from month to month. There is a strong focus on money and time (Measurement and Data), place value (Numbers and Operations in Base Ten), and addition, subtraction, with an introduction to multiplication and division (Operations and Algebraic Thinking). Fractions (Geometry) and temperature are also brought in later in the year.

I have also included a teacher guidance page for each month. This page has instructions for how to guide your students through each section of that specific month's workbook page. There are many question strategies included with a focus on how to bring more metacognition into your math classroom! I have also included tips and suggestions for posters to create with your students and post in your classroom for your ELL and struggling students to use as reference tools throughout the year.
