What educators are saying

Students love the flexibility in the project and getting to show off what they've learned and what they are really good at in Calculus. Excellent project to support differentiation in the classroom!

Description

I use this project in my AP Calculus BC course at the end of the year. You can also adjust it to make it appropriate for AP Calculus AB—some of the “jumping-off points” included in the assignment sheet involve BC-only topics, but they can be removed or replaced with more AB topics if you wish.

You will download a .zip file from which you can extract four files: two editable .doc files and two .pdf versions of those files for perfect formatting.

Included:
- Assignment sheet with introduction, rubric, “do”s and “don’t”s, and jumping off points
- Grading rubric for teachers to write comments while tallying up a score.

I use this project in my class after the AP exam and use it as a test grade. I offer suggestions to help students get started, but I like to leave the project quite open. Many students use one of the recommended jumping-off points, but each year several students come up with their own interesting project to investigate. Making expectations clear from the beginning ensures that students turn in quality work.

Note: I also have a less open-ended project (AB or BC) available in my store at
