Description
Hi there!
This is a collection of VCe centres (over 140 pages!) that I use to teach and reinforce decoding and encoding VCe words with the a_e, i_e, o_e and u_e patterns.
In 2024 this pack got a HUGE update! Like many of you, I have been diving into learning about how the brain learns to read based on research (commonly referred to as Science of Reading) and so I have made most of the decoding and encoding activities more “decodable”. Meaning, I have only included sounds that are typically taught before VCe words whenever possible which include the sounds for each letter of the alphabet. I did not include words like ”rose” and “hose” where the s makes a /z/ sound.
As always, I made it my mission to create engaging, hand on activities for our little learners! I hope you and your students enjoy these!
Here are the activities that are included:
p. 6-17: Read, Make & Circle/Cover
p. 18-30: What's Missing?
p. 31-44: Say & Make
p. 41-51: VCe Play Dough Mats
p. 52-63: Cotton Swab & Paint VCe Words
p. 64-68: VCe Look Alike Words Clip Cards
p. 69-79: Real Photo VCe Encoding Cards
p. 80-94: VCe Linking Chain Puzzles
