Description

This packet includes materials for 17 CVC word families (ie. -ad, -an, -ap, -at, -ed, -en, -et, -ig, -in, -ip, -og, -op, -ot, -ub, -ug, -un, -up). Can be used directly with Really Good Stuff's "Word Family Caterpillar Poster Set." For each word family the following materials are included:

1.) A "building words" worksheet - A picture cue is provided for each word. Students spell the word from the model with paper letter tiles, then trace the word. On the opposite side, students are given just the pictures and must spell the words using their letter tiles and write the words on their own.

2.) A homework sheet - Each word is provided with a picture. Students must then trace each word and also write it on their own.

3.) A practice worksheet - For each word a picture is provided, but a beginning, middle, or ending letter is missing. Students must fill in the missing letters.

4.) A test - A picture is given to represent each word and students must write in the spelling of the word.

Letter tiles for use with the worksheets are also included.

Printing recommendations - For each word family, print the first two pages back-to-back, and print the other sheets separately (the practice and test as well as the anchor charts are half-sheets). Also, you may want to print the letter tiles on cardstock and put them in baggies for each student to use. I only print two of each letter per child (one page each) and then students need to move the letter tiles as they progress from word to word.
