I have found that presenting learners with materials that allow them to discover knowledge for themselves is more meaningful and has a lasting impression. The basic principles of independence, self-confidence, self-discipline, freedom to explore, maintaining interest, learning from and with peers, respect in all forms; comes to the fore.

The presentations are designed:-

As an introduction to an African animal study through inspiring curiosity and building up on existing knowledge

As a non-fictional reading exercise by enhancing reading skills, including comprehension and vocabulary

As an independent mini lesson

As a resource for study skills practice, note taking, summarizing

A basis for a life science report

A basis for a prepared or unprepared speech

As a motivation for creative or informative writing

Development of critical and logical thinking skills

To support social interaction through meaningful discussion

And above all to encourage a love for learning

During the presentation:-

Learners may record their answers to posed questions or simply give a verbal response

Learners develop notetaking skills by recording key word/phrases from the slides

Learners write a report/summary at the end of the presentation

This POWERFUL interactive slide show takes the viewer through a basic study of individual African Animals. Original photos and video snippets enhance the text (in some presentations). Presentations explore the question and answer technique, and are great for non-fiction reading comprehension exercises. Images often give visual comprehension clues to the questions asked. Presentations may be used for independent research by the learner or as a discussion base for lessons.
