Subject/Level: Italian, Level 1
Unit: Community and Neighborhood
Prior Learning: Students are familiar with vocabulary for places in the community, activities around town, and uses of the verb andare
Assessment Objectives: Students will demonstrate the ability to:
1. use vocabulary for areas and resources of the community
2. describe community activities and needs
3. conjugate the verbs essere / stare / avere / andare in the present tense
4. present a persuasive presentation appropriate to task and audience
5. plan and structure a project by setting goals and maintaining organization
6. present a proposal using appropriate visual aids (This project can be modified to a poster or essay type format if preferred.)

L1: Demonstrate command of conventions and grammar when writing and speaking
L2: Demonstrate command of conventions of capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing

Assessment Overview:
1. Students plan a presentation which includes an identified community problem or area in need of improvement and a possible solution.
2. Students prepare a persuasive and informative presentation in order to lobby for a community development project. Presentations should include:
a clearly identified problem or area in need of improvement
a development project designed to address the problem
supporting details to persuade the audience in favor of the project
3. Students add visuals to aid presentation of proposal.
