Tired of creating individual spelling trees and using up all of your anchor chart paper? Want to give students more ownership and interaction with your spelling trees? This journal is for you! This journal contains all of the CKLA Skills Spelling Trees for all 2nd grade units! Students can add words and odd ducks to their OWN trees during your lesson. Then, all of their trees are located in one journal for referencing. Life changing, right?!

-Is this product editable? Yes! This product is FULLY editable! Customize it to fit your needs.
-Do the leaves already have words on them? No, but this file is completely editable. You are able to add a text box over the leaves and can easily add in words of your choosing before printing.
-How many trees are there? There are 21 trees in this journal. The reason is because some of the trees add new branches in later units. I didn't want my students to get confused, so I chose to add the branches to the existing trees, but I made another page for those to go in the journal for the appropriate time. I also left the leaves blank so that we can review previous spelling branches. If you don't want to do this, again the trees are editable and you can simply add the branch on to the original tree and go back to it when it is time.
-Are the branches different lengths? Yes! The branch lengths change to match the power bars (spelling usage).
Journal Ideas:
I bound my journal with the plastic bindings, as pictured. I printed the cover on cardstock and laminated it and a sheet for the back. You could also just print and hole punch and put into folders if you do not have access to bindings!
To add some fun, students can also color and customize their trees once one is completed. Just be sure they don't cover the words or any important information :)
If you want it to be digital, add the Google Slides to your Google Classroom and students can add their words digitally using text boxes!
