Unit 1 Introduction to World Issues & Globalization
Introduction to the course through the examination of “what is an issue.” Understanding the basic concepts of perspective, bias and motivation. Understanding why it is important to classify countries into specific categories and see the world as an interdependent place. Finally, understanding the major concepts of globalization and sustainability in how the world is becoming more interdependent.

Unit 2 Demography
Understanding the status and roles of men and woman in different parts of the world, explaining world demographic trends and factors influencing them, and explaining how new technology affects employment and resource management. Understanding demographic theories and issues in both developed and developing countries. Also, the need to respect the cultural and religious aspects of different countries. Understanding population migration and refugee situations or issues. Analyzing the impact of urban growth on natural and human systems and understanding urban issues.

Analyze how agricultural trends affect natural and human systems, analyzing economic issues and disparities in the world. Focusing on the growth of economic globalization and economic disparity in the world.

Identifying and understanding current global issues related to sustainability and environmental threats.
