Description

A COMPREHENSIVE COMMON CORE ALIGNED ASSESSMENT BANK for ELA – Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language First Grade Level

Over 500 pages of curriculum-based assessments! Well over 100 total ELA assessments!

This Assessment Bank was designed to save teachers time in developing assessments to use in assessing student performance in and learning of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), ELA Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language.

The standards in the Assessment Banks are deconstructed into two or more objectives for teaching and learning. The Assessment Bank contains at least two assessments aligned to each of the CCSS (most standards have more assessments – depending on the number and type of objectives) - OVER 100 ASSESSMENTS! The assessments are authentic and curriculum-based and were designed to provide you with relevant student performance data.

This particular assessment bank covers the English Language Arts CCSS in the areas of Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language at the First Grade level. The Assessment Bank is organized into three sections: Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language, which correspond to three areas of the Common Core ELA Standards. I have available separate First Grade assessment banks for the areas of reading and mathematics.
Some assessments administered at the First Grade level are best conducted in one-on-one assessment situations with the teacher or other adult providing oral directions as well as reading most print material orally to the student. While many of the assessments may be administered whole-group, some assessments in this assessment bank were designed to be administered in one-on-one situations.

Teacher directions are provided for each assessment in the Assessment Bank. Due to the nature of some assessments and the frequency of administration, I have included at least two forms for all assessments, a Form A and a Form B. Some assessments have more than two forms. For these assessments, teachers can alternate the use of the different forms to allow for pretests and post-tests of the standards/objectives and to reduce the possibility that students may learn the responses to the assessments simply by engaging in the assessment repeatedly.

Performance and progress for most standards in the areas of Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language are best measured using authentic-type means of evaluation. Therefore, most assessments in this bank include an accompanying scoring rubric and lend themselves well to the use of anecdotal records, particularly in the areas of writing and speaking and listening.

All assessments in this bank have an accompanying Assessment Record for teachers to use to document student performance and progress in mastering the standard/objective across trials/forms and over time. Teachers choosing to use these Assessment Records simply transfer the assessment data from the actual teacher or student assessment form to the Assessment Record Form. These Assessment Record forms would be ideal to use to monitor student performance over time and to report student progress to parents during parent conferences or to team members during Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings. The Assessment Record also contains detailed directions for administering the assessment.

Also included at the end of the Assessment Banks are CCSS Class Performance Records , one for each of the three sections of the Bank, Writing, Speaking and Listening and Language. These Class Performance Records can be used to determine the overall performance/progress toward mastery of the Common Core Standards for an entire class. Teachers using these forms can easily and quickly determine the overall level of performance for all students in one class related to individual standards to assist in planning and making overall instructional decisions.

This product contains a table of contents organized by area (Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language) and by standard for quickly finding the necessary assessments for the standard on which you are working.
