What educators are saying

I printed up the colored copy to hang on my math focus wall and then made copies in black and white to put on the back of their homework folder to help them remember the strategies (and their parents) when doing homework.

Description

To help support the new common core standards as well as CGI (cognitive guided instruction), here is a simple one page poster depicting 15 math strategies students need to use to master mathematics in a variety of ways.

The poster provides a visual depiction of the following strategies:

* Draw a Picture
* Tally marks
* Count On /Back
* Number Line
* 100 Chart
* Number Bonds
* Doubles + 1
* Decomposing
* Find a Pattern
* Base 10 Blocks
* Place Value
* Expanded Form
* Skip Count
* Array
* Algorithm

The poster comes in color, black and white, half sheet and quarter sheet for a variety of uses and placements.

We like to give a copy to our classroom parents to help explain the common core standards and new strategies their children will be using and talking about.

I hope you find it useful!

Determine whether a group of objects (up to 20) has an odd or even number of members, e.g., by pairing objects or counting them by 2s; write an equation to express an even number as a sum of two equal addends.
Use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays with up to 5 rows and up to 5 columns; write an equation to express the total as a sum of equal addends.
