This lesson plan covers the aspects of safety and prevention from burns and scalds for young students. Scald burns, burns from items in the home that are too hot, burns from a fire in the home, and avoiding all other types of burns are part of the plan, Also covered is caring for a burn and what to do in case of a fire in the home. clip art, printables, answer key, no prep needed.

Learning objectives:

Students will understand how to avoid scald burns from hot water in the bath tub

Students will recognize how to avoid scald burns from hot liquid in a cup or mug

Students will be able to identify how to Avoid burns from other sources in the home;

including a burn from fire in a fireplace, candle, barbecue, fire pit, etc

Students will be able identify how to care for a burn

Students will be able to discern how to stay safe and get to safety if there is a fire in the home
