    Description

Perhaps the most important area of focus in any class involving United States History or Government, this unit contains everything your students need to know about the Constitution!

The wealth of resources includes the following:

    • A paraphrased version of the Constitution and Bill of Rights and a series of 21 questions based on the document that help students develop a rudimentary knowledge of the three branches of government, the powers of each branch, the relationship between the federal government and the states, and the Bill of Rights. An answer key is included.

    • A PowerPoint that introduces students to the principles behind the Constitution (federalism, checks and balances, separation of powers, etc.), leads students through the various articles, and addresses the freedoms contained in the Bill of Rights.

    • A graphic organizer where students illustrate both the principles behind the Constitution and the goals contained in the Preamble.

    • A PowerPoint and graphic organizer that focus on the separation of powers between each branch of government and how those branches oversee and check the powers of the other branches.

    • A PowerPoint that addresses the Legislative Branch, including congressional districts, apportionment, population trends, and gerrymandering.

    • A PowerPoint and series of questions that address the purpose behind and responsibilities of the Electoral College, compare electoral results during the 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 presidential elections, and ask students to consider whether or not the Electoral College should be abolished. An answer key is included.

    • A PowerPoint that introduces students to The Federalist Papers and emphasizes what are widely-considered to be the three most prominent articles: Federalist 10, 51, and 78.

    • A poster project where students illustrate arguments either supporting or opposing ratification of the Constitution. The resource includes both a scoring rubric and student examples.

    • A PowerPoint and poster project where students illustrate the main ideas behind each article in the United States Constitution. The resource includes both a scoring rubric and student examples. This is a brand new resource that I am certain will become an integral part of your curriculum.

    • A PowerPoint and poster project where students illustrate the freedoms contained in the Bill of Rights. The resource includes both a scoring rubric and student examples. This project is far and away my most popular offering on Teachers Pay Teachers and is the star of any Open House!

    • Biographies on two political philosophers, Charles de Montesquieu and John Locke, whose ideas had a profound influence on the development of American government. Each biography includes a series of questions based on the reading, strategies to improve understanding, and an answer key.

Purchased separately, these resources would total $38.50; I am offering them as a bundle for $30, a savings of nearly 25%. I use these resources in my own class room - this has proven to be such a successful unit! I am certain you will find this unit a valuable addition to your curriculum.
