    Description

This bundle of lessons covers work problems, power problems, mechanical advantage, simple machines, classifying levers, and more! These activities will help your 9th and 10th grade physical science students learn to solve problems step by step for accuracy. Hands on lab activities make physics fun as students calculate stair climbing power and classify levers as well as calculating their mechanical advantage. After completing these activities, students will be able to:

    • define and calculate work and power using formulas
    • identify, describe, and classify the 6 types of simple machines including levers, wedge, screw, inclined plane, wheel & axle, and pulley
    • compute the mechanical advantage of each simple machine
    • identify simple machines within compound machines
    • determine if a tool is a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd class lever
    • locate the effort force and resistance force
