    Introduce your students to the Five Functions of Management through an engaging warmup activity, vivid instructional presentation, graphic organizer to guide notetaking, class discussion Q's that get your students talking, and a collaborative project analysis of a business.

    Student teams will select a business to analyze, summarize and present findings regarding the company's use of the Five Functions of Management The group work will reinforce content learning. You will need internet and computers for the student teams to conduct online research.

    for Five Functions of Management - Applying What We Have Learned. The purpose of this lesson activity is to expand students’ knowledge of the roles and functions of management using a newly established and potentially thriving Cupcake Bakery as a business scenario.

    Student groups will tie together and apply what they have learned about the Five Functions of Management by collaborating with classmates in writing a response to the case scenario provided in this lesson package. Student groups will be responsible for identifying a business goal and creating a strategy as it applies to one of the five functions of management.

    3. Organizational Charts and Hierarchy in Business - Relate org charts to your students lives...and they are more likely to 'get it'. Business structures are important and students understand them more than they think. This engaging lesson will formalize how organizational charts are used in business and why establishing a structure is so important for management to succeed in their mission.

    SWBAT compare two hierarchical models for organizations; create an organizational chart based on a known organization.

    4. Business Management and Leadership Styles, Moneyball: a case study

    Way more than a movie guide! This resource is a STEP-BY-STEP introduction to leadership styles outlined by renowned psychiatrist/professor, Daniel Goleman through the use of a true story and a popular movie with Brad Pitt, called Moneyball. The resource is broken down into six (6) student-centered activities that support the learning of management and leadership styles. Plus your students will analyze specific scenes to engage in critical thinking. Ideal for units in Business Management and Leadership Styles | Moneyball Movie: a Case Study

    The lesson activities can be performed using digital or print resources and a projector if in class. If virtual, students would need access to technology and Wi-Fi. Warning! This movie has three instances of inappropriate language. Commonsensemedia.org rates Moneyball for ages 12+.
