What educators are saying

This was the best math activity to do at Thanksgiving time. My kids thought it was so fun. I actually was observed while my class worked on this and my admin loved it!

Description

Hey teachers! This line plot activity is just perfect for Turkey Day. The students must measure each of the feathers and record the data. Then they use the data to make a line plot. Line plots should be evenly spaced. We used an inch ruler to help us make even marks.

After the students make their graph, they can color, cut, and construct their turkeys. I had my students cut theirs out and put it on construction paper for display.

Standards covered:

2MD1 - measuring an object by selecting the appropriate tool

2MD9 - creating a line plot

3MD8 - create a line plot

Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
