Description
The objective of this lesson is to introduce students to the 13 colonies, the settlement of New England, and the differences between New France and the 13 colonies. The focus here is to have students learn why the British took an interest in North America, as well as how their systems of colonization differed from those of New France / France.
7.1.3 - Compare and contrast diverse social and economic structures within the societies of Aboriginal, French and British peoples in pre-Confederation Canada by exploring and reflecting upon the following questions and issues:
- Who Were the Key Figures in the British exploration and settlement of North America? (CC, LPP, TCC)
- What role did the British government play in the social structure of North America (ER, GC, PADM, LPP)
